The Uses Of QR Codes

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

They are a 2 dimensional code that can be scanned by a smartphone to automatically pull up information such as URLs, phone number, videos, photographs, music, text etc. QR stands for ‘Quick Response’ and were first developed in Japan by a company called Denso-Wave in 1994.

Basically QR codes are usually two dimensional bar codes that are understood both vertically and also horizontally. The codes consist of a control grid of tiny squares. This allows for far more information to be encoded in a much smaller area than a traditional bar coding system. Codes are usually read by smartphones and QR scanners.

At first they were utilised to track car parts in Japan, where are usually very widespread, however, today they have a far wider industrial use within our digital world. They can be added to a business card or an email to send someone with a reader straight to your page. So, whereas a bar coding system pretty much can only identify a product and needs a special device to be scanned, QR codes can embed far more data as well as trigger an action for instance downloading a music file or launching a page straight with your phone. Imagine how easy this will make it for someone to go to your page, without the bother of actually typing in the url, especially useful if you have a less than memorable or difficult to spell web address.

Some widespread uses of QR codes: Contact data – add all your contact data including phones numbers, business address, page as well as electronic mail Name tags: Add all your info to a person’s name tag at a conference and also colleagues can just scan it to download all a person’s details. Art: Street artist Banksy has a piece of work in a disused railway tunnel in London which consists of a coding system, when scanned this codification takes you directly to his Wikipedia web page. Shop Windows: In the US Google is distributing code decals to small businesses on Google Places, to be positioned in the store windows for passers-by to scan.

QR codes are usually still somewhat alien to many persons, so make it a little easier for them by adding something of worth. Don’t just deliver them to a page when scanned, maybe send them to a special offer web page, just for registered users of the codes , add something of worth to inspire a person’s users.

Whatever you decide to do enjoy using your codes and start being creative as they are likely to become extremely popular as more and more people surf the net on smartphones.

Always Do The Best Keyword Research For Free

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

The latest news is that Google has upgraded the Adwords External Keyword Tool so that it now also shows Search Volumes for the Keywords it returns during keyword research. As Google is the biggest source of keyword search phrases, due to the fact that it is the dominant search engine used by web surfers, this news is extremely significant.

If you are an internet or affiliate marketer you will know that the tradition tools used for keyword research, like Wordze, Keyword Discovery, Keyword Elite and Wordtracker have always been thought of as inaccurate when providing estimated search volumes. They can only collect a very small fraction of the data that Google has access to. The Google keyword database must be massive when you compare it to those of the tools above.

These paid keyword research services try and predict the total searches for each keyword by extrapolating their data, but the numbers returned cannot be considered accurate in any way at all. But because these tools were the only way to get any significant data they were relied on by many if not most internet marketers.

Now Google has changed everything and the new external keyword tool for Adwords displays much more accurate search volumes for real keyword phrases that have actually been searched for in Google by users of their popular search engine. So now if you want to do keyword research you can get everything you want from Google and the search volume data you get will be so much more accurate then the paid keyword tools.

What is more Google provides all this keyword data for free! Although designed originally for use just with Adwords by affiliate marketer this external keyword tool, as it is known, is available for anyone to use totally free. Once you know the link or URL you can just go straight to the tool and use it whenever you want.

This is the biggest change in Internet marketing for a very long time and it is a very significant event. At last Google gives something back to the Internet community. However there are still many out there who cynically suggest that Google has a hidden agenda behind all this and some are not yet sure about the accuracy of Google’s data. However quick analysis of the new search volumes suggest that the accuracy is good, but more analysis needs to be completed before a final decision.

The other major aspect of what Google have just done is that there is a different free version of the tool so that geographically related data can now be discovered, enabling internet marketers to do keyword research specifically for individual countries such as the UK, France or even New Zealand. Thus this is now the best UK keyword research tool for keywords search for in only the United Kingdom.

Apart form the fact this new tool for Google is free this is also very significant and the paid keyword research services never provided any really useful keyword data for country locations anyway.

If you would like some free traffic tools then get on over to our website now.

Mare The Most of Your Article Marketing

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

For anyone doing business online, article marketing is one of the most popular ways to improve your search engine optimization efforts. With the introduction of article submission tools, the task of distributing your articles across the Internet is easier than ever before. There are a number of rules you should follow if you want to get the most from your article marketing.

In this article, I will give you some article writing and submission guidelines that I’ve personally used to enhance the overall effectiveness of my submissions and guarantee that articles are placed on web pages with a high Google PR.

Article marketing gives your article content a life well beyond a single listing. Website owners visit article directories to find relevant content for their website, blog, or ezine. Your article can be published for quite some time after it’s submitted and posted. The real value of article submission is when third party sites provide a link back to your website in exchange for the content you have provided them.

Make Sure Your Article Is At Least 500 Words. Too often I see articles that contain a few words short of the minimum required. Many article submission websites have a length requirement of 500 words or more. I like to exceed the minimum threshold by at least 35 words so that sites that do not count prepositions still measure more than the minimum.

Write Your Article Around A Keyword Phrase. When you write an article about a particular subject, select a keyword phrase that helps to promote your website or service. The result is that search engines will be able to find your content easily based on the specific keywords noted.

Use Your Keyword Phrase Within Your Article. When writing an article about a particular topic, choose a keyword phrase that helps to promote your website, product or service. This allows search engines to easily find and classify your content related to specific keywords.

Create A Compelling Headline. By developing a catchy headline, readers are pulled into your article and take notice. Even though your primary purpose is content distribution and building links to your website, don’t lose sight of promoting your content in a valuable way. Article submission works best when your headline requires individuals to take notice. This leads to greater awareness and action among webmasters seeking content.

Use Article Submission Software. There have been a significant number of improvements in the area of article marketing during the last two years. The market offers a number of article submission software packages that can automate or semi-automate the submission process. Although nothing can fully replace authoring your own content, article submission can be made easier with the help of article marketing software and technology.

Submit Your Articles To Top Sites. Don’t waste your time submitting your article to sites that are brand new or only have a low Google PR. Find top ranked article sites using some type of article submission tool, software, or application that can give you indication of site age or Google PR. This helps you to spend your precious time submitting to websites that can truly provide value to your article marketing efforts.

Article marketing continues to be a great way to improve your websites search engine ranking. With the help of original content and links back to your website or blog, search engines take notice and assign your website a great deal of value.

Anyone doing business via the Internet, then you must consider article marketing as a vital search engine optimization strategy. Not only can article marketing help you promote your website, but original content is viral in nature and builds your traffic significantly over time.

How To Put Together an SEO Proposal

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

In my line of work I have to generate 2 – 3 brand new Seo proposals and quotations every week. These take time to create. Luckily for me I’ve it down to a fine art now.

Generally the bigger the prospective client is, the more work needs to be put into your pitch. Large clients have large budgets and you’ll need to demonstrate your competence in the field if you want a slice of this spending budget. You’ll need to be able to explain what’s currently going wrong with their web site and how you are planning to remedy it.

The areas that I really feel you’ll need to cover in each and every Search engine optimization proposal are:

1. Quote – Try and get this 1 out of the way on page 1. For me personally, I always quote the bare minimum investment values, under which I will not go. If a company tries to bargain then I nicely ask them to take their work somewhere else. I always give a genuine quotation and never charge a Cent more than what I believe is required for a web site to be a success.

2. Seo Breakdown – This section needs to give a percentage break down of where a search engine optimization budget is going to be invested. It covers five important areas: Discovery 5% Optimization 40% Link Building 40% Landing Page Creation 10% Reporting & Analysis 5%

3. Seo Audit – Give a detailed break down of the negative and positive elements of a site. Every single web site you will review will have various degrees of good and bad search engine optimization elements. Loads of websites I work with will have excellent optimisation but they will have very few back links to power the website up the search rankings. Obviously this type of customer would require much more link building work for their web site than other websites.

4. 5 Essential Areas To Focus On – Here you should list the top 5 search engine optimization elements that have to be focused on. Offer a small description of the current situation and let the client know the exact steps you will take to solve this. The top 5 elements to list out here are normally:

1. Link Building 2. Optimisation 3. Landing Page creation 4. Content Creation 5. Social networking

5. Ranking Analysis – Perform keyphrase research for every client and put together a benchmark ranking report for them to view. This really hits home the message that their internet site is under performing in the natural search results. The search rankings never lie. Many clients will have a notion from Analytics that search engine traffic is their main traffic source. What they often don’t realise is that 80% of their organic traffic is generated through brand name search. A ratio of 4:1 (branded : non branded traffic) is not up to scratch and needs to be fixed. Their Seo tactic will mostly concentrate on targeting the non branded portion of search.

6. Ranking Targets – If you advise the customer to go with a 6 or 12 month Seo strategy then attempt to make precise estimations of what you think is achievable with regards to ranking improvements. For me personally, I do not give specific predictions for specific words. My predictions work off percentages. From their ranking report, aim to increase top 1, 5, 10, and 30 rankings by a certain percentage.

7. Reporting – Provide a short explanation of what the client can be expecting in terms of reporting. List the KPIs that you will be monitoring and the frequency of reporting.

8. Work Experience – Personally, I’ve worked with many of Ireland’s top companies and I want my potential client to understand this. They are hiring an individual with huge practical experience obtaining results in competitive industries and they are paying out very low prices for this. Having been in the business for almost Sseven years now I’ve worked in a large number of different niche markets. If this report is for a new finance client then I list out the financial clients I have worked along with and also list out key ranking achievements I have made in that niche.

That sums up briefly the key areas to focus on in a search engine optimization sales pitch. As I stated before, they take time to develop. This is work that you are not likely to get compensated for, but if you want to hook some huge Seo fish then you’ll need to take time to prepare the right bait.

Hard Data Update on the Google+ Experiment

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Google’s lates social experiment (Google Plus) continues to roll out in “limited” beta screening; having said that, it is considered to top out at approximately 18 million registered users as of right now. To find out who the very first adopters are, study agency Experian Hitwise has released fairly new and effective data on just who’s utilizing Google Plus and just how regularly, including visits, census, and utilization styles.

Google+ Visits and Activity

Google has previously confirmed that it has millions of users. Despite that high quantity, Hitwise noted only 1.8 million complete visits per week ago to the Google+ website, which helped Google become the 42nd favorite social networking website, as well as the 638th amongst all U.S. sites, ClickZ noted.

Released on June 28, traffic continuously rose as buzz increased and invites were sent. Traffic apparently peaked between July 5-12, Hitwise noted, with ClickZ confirming that Google had 300,000 visits for 3 days consecutively this summer from July 12-14. July 12 and July 14 were the peak traffic days for Google , based on Hitwise’s reporting.

These targeted traffic estimations seem pretty plausible when coupled with registration estimates. Paul Allen continues to be monitoring Google registrations and he mentioned that a couple weeks ago (for 2 days), a lot more than two million folks registered in one day. Having said that, registrations are really decreasing, with Google calculating 948,000 new customers day-to-day – Google only added 750,000 shoppers on July 18 and 763,000 clients on July 19, based on Allen’s estimations.

Which internet sites does Google rank beneath? As of the first of July, Hitwise documented the best 10 favorite social networks had been: Facebook, YouTube, Meebo, Twitter, Bebo, Yahoo Answers, myYearbook, CafeMom and LinkedIn.

Google Demographics

Who is utilizing Google ? Early figures approximated that males produced up about 75 % of Google users, but that seems to be changing, as Hitwise estimates that 57 percent of Google customers are male.

People between the ages of 25 and 34 (38 percent) visited Google+ most last week, though for the week before that people between ages 18 and 24 (38 percent) visited most often.

Los Angeles, California, New York City, New York, and San Francisco, California were the top markets for Google . “When population differences are factored out, the cities with the most Google visitors per capita are Bowling Green, KY; Portland, OR; Bend, OR; and Presque Isle, ME. College cities indexed extremely well in general, based on Experian Hitwise spokesperson Matt Tatham,” ClickZ reported.

Not surprisingly, early adopters tend “to be far more affluent, over-indexing for those earning a household income of $60k and over, especially $150k and up.”

Google Patterns of Use

Typical time on web page is steadily growing on Google Plus. Users stuck around for just underneath 6 minutes (5 min. 50 sec.) for week ending July 19, as in comparison to just underneath 5 minutes (4:52) for week ending July 12, and beneath three minutes (2:56) for the week ending July 5. Meanwhile, Facebook customers, on average, invested nearly 22 minutes (21:57) on Facebook in any given week.

Google and Gmail sent the most traffic (more than 50 percent) to Google+, with YouTube and Google profiles also contributing – in total, Google properties sent 56 percent of traffic to Google+. Facebook was the third most visited site before Google+. Overall, search engines drove 37 percent of visits.

Experian Hitwise’s data was collected between the dates of June 28 and July 19, 2011.

I believe that Google+ will certainly prove to be an extremely affordable internet marketing tactic going forward regarding small company and also professionals who desire to reach web shoppers cheaply and also effectively.

How To Make Money With the Google Content Network

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Online marketers have been trying to gain an edge with PPC marketing for nearly a decade. The problem is that much of the information that has been published on PPC has been focused on search only instead of including search partners and content. These areas account for a large amount of traffic and pay-per-click related revenue.

With so much experience in the area of PPC, more online marketers are providing information about what’s working and what isn’t. The only downside is that a number so called gurus will charge you thousands of dollars to share what they’ve learned. Many people have tried to succeed with the content network and quickly abandoned because they couldn’t find the secret formula or what truly produced results.

Many people are making money today on Google’s content network thanks to the help of new resources and information. As more online marketing professionals have been using pay-per-click and working to enhance the overall quality of their online campaigns, they’ve been turning to Content Network advertising in large numbers. As they learn, they share their information and improve the overall interest in making money with content.

One of the most popular techniques is grouping related keywords for your content network Ad groups. An ad group is a set of related keywords used to trigger a pay-per-click ad. By using about 30 to 50 keywords per adgroup, leading search engines have a better way to categorize your targeted content and serve up ads appropriately. The result is a higher click through rate, quality score, and related cost reduction.

One of the most popular research tools associated with the content network is Content Bully. This product is offered by the same team that developed PPC Bully which extracts the most profitable PPC campaigns based on numerous data elements. Content Bully provides the same level of research, providing guidance on profitable pay per click campaigns via the content network.

Consider using an online tool to help you evaluated which resources can most effectively transform your content network campaigns, resulting in lower costs and higher profitability. As many of you know, the challenge with content related campaigns is that it takes a lot of clicks before you can adequately assess a campaign’s effectiveness. This is where online tools like Content Bully come into play. You can spend more of your time on implementing your campaigns versus the tedious research of finding profitable campaigns.

In addition to finding profitable campaigns, informational resources can help you determine which affiliate products might do well on the Content Network. In general, the most popular products that have broad appeal do well. This is sometimes due to the amount of content being published related to that particular niche or product category.

After you’ve spent some time learning the ins and outs of content network advertising, it’s time to do your homework. Evaluate tools and resources related to PPC marketing. More importantly, become familiar with content network related advertising tools. Software that specifically address the content network is the most valuable and will be more effective than generic pay-per-click PPC resources. Read review and evaluate thoroughly. Give them a dry run if possible before selecting your content network advertising solution.
