Ranking on Google: How The DK-is-a-Street-Performer Case Study Can Help Your Business

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

The Yellow Pages used to be the first marketing tool a business would go to if they wanted to be seen. A business owner would pay a monthly fee to have a listing in the yellow book. Today, not many people use the yellow pages – much less own a copy. Instead, people are going to Google to search for services.

That is why there is so much business for SEO experts nowadays. Business owners know that the key to getting new clients is to rank on the first page of Google, and they will pay hundreds of dollars per month to get their websites to show up. And when they do? You have a 10% chance of having someone click on your website.

So a listing on the first page of Google almost guarantees you a 10% chance of gaining a new client. However, it puts you on the same level as everyone else on that same page. If you want even more visibility, how would you go about getting the equivalent of the full-page color ad in the Yellow Pages?

That is why now, marketers are going for something brand new – multiple listings on the first page of Google. The “DK is a Street Performer” contest and case study showed the real possibilities available to businesses who are looking to completely erase their competitors and show up multiple times on the first page of Google search – thereby increasing clicks to their site.

The more sites you have on the first page of Google for a specific search, the more likely you are to get traffic (or clicks) to your website. One site on the first page gives you a 1/10 chance of acquiring a new customer, while four sites would give you a 4/10 chance. One of the challengers in the dk-is-a-street-performer case study, Liane Carmi, was actually able to get to 8/10!

Google updates all the time, and less recent sites tend to lose their rankings. This is especially true with news articles and videos. However, there are certain tricks that knowledgeable marketers employ to keep certain websites at the top, and Ms. Carmi seems to have mastered this skill.

Ms. Carmi, during a recent interview, stated that the reason she was able to rank so well in the competition was that she took action, and remained consistent with her marketing efforts. Even when other marketers closed shop for the day, she continued moving forward.

Ms. Carmi also offered this bit of advice for businesses who would like to have their websites take over the search engines: “Find an online marketer who has some experience with difficult niche markets. This is the type of marketer who can help you get on the first page of Google. Also, don’t forget to have someone look at your landing page, and make sure you are building a database. Traffic means nothing if you cannot convert the visitors into customers at some point.”

Want more information about the challenge and case study? Go to Google now and type “DK is a Street Performer.” The sites that come up may surprise you!

The Biggest List Building Mistake ~ And How to Avoid It

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Most beginning marketers know in their heads that the money is in the list but few will begin building a list in the beginning. Once they do start, they are likely to just put an opt in box in the sidebar of their blog and call it good.

Only having your opt in box in your sidebar is a huge mistake because there is just too much going on and too many choices a reader can make once they hit your site. They can read articles, click affiliate links, or even click the back button. Too many options leads to confusion and a confused mind never does what you want it to do. If you are trying to build a list you don’t want confusion you want the only option to be to sign up to your list.

What is an opt in page?

An opt in page aka squeeze page is a page you set up with one intention, and one intention only ~ to get someone to sign up to your list. That’s the only thing you want them to do, that’s the only choice you make available. They either sign up or they click the back button. It is a short page, with just enough information to get them to enter their information.

If you create an opt in page you will increase your opt in rate in a huge way. We mentioned how many options there are on a regular page and a person with too many choices generally makes no choice at all. Your opt in page only gives them one choice, sign up or click the back button. If you have an interesting incentive for them to sign up they will.

What do I need on my opt in page?

As we said, the opt in page is a very simple webpage. There are only a few elements needed to create an opt in page that converts. The first of which is your free gift or incentive. This is a freebie you offer to people in exchange for their name and email address. This freebie can be a free report, a newsletter, or even a 5 or 7 day ecourse. Whatever you choose, as long as it is directly relevant to what people are looking for it will work. You can create this report yourself or even have one written by a freelancer. You can also use a plr report, or even a brandable report from an affiliate program. It doesn’t have to be complicated, you just need to have one.

The next element on your opt in page is the headline. You can use large red font, just like you would on a sales page. You want to highlight the benefits and let them know what they can expect from subscribing to your list in this headline. Here’s a headline we use for one of our best converting squeeze pages. “How to Finally Puzzle Together a Money-Bringing Internet Marketing Strategy that Works for You” The free gift on this particular list is ongoing internet marketing tutorials.

You want to tell people how they are going to benefit from getting your information and being on your list. If you’ve created an ecourse you can go through each lesson and pull out the biggest benefit. This can be a short bullet point list. You want to show benefits, but you don’t want to make this a sales page. If you can keep all this information above the fold of your page, all the better.

The last piece of the puzzle is your opt in box itself. You can get this from your autoresponder. Make sure you mention the free gift and give them some instructions. It seems ridiculous, but when you specifically say something about them entering their name and email address conversion rates go way up. Crazy but true. Once the code has been created by your autoresponder, all you have to do is paste it right on to your squeeze page.

As you can see it really is a simple page, with one straight forward purpose. Once your opt in page is created and online you want to begin directing all your traffic to your opt in page first. If you are sending people to an affiliate product, send them to your list first. If you are selling your own product, get them on your list first. This way you can contact them more than once, and increase the likelihood of making a sale.

Discover How To Get Noticed with Online Video Marketing

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

If you are looking to promote your services, or launch an exciting new product online, your best option is to turn to video marketing. Quickly being utilized by individuals, small businesses, and the major corporations, this is set to become the hottest marketing method for some time. With us all being well used to TV advertising, this medium is thought to be far more comfortable for people to take notice of, as opposed to pop-ups and banners. Particularly for the increasing number of so called “silver surfers”.

Once you have chosen to use the video marketing medium, it is important to get all the details correct before launching the campaign on an unsuspecting public. Shooting a short video for yourself is becoming easier and easier, with a wealth of guides, software, hardware and forums readily available, accessible and affordable.

When selecting who to work with on the video, be sure to take a look at any work they have produced before. Do you like it? How was it received? What was the effect on the sales bottom line? Seek references, which any company worth its salt will help you to access. Spending a little time on this now, will reap dividends moving forward, and help you through any issues and challenges that may arise.

It would be useless shooting a video before having the story well put together. Again, are you confident to do this yourself, or do you need some help. You know your product best of all, so it is probably best not to hand over complete control of this task. Remember your audience too. Who are they, do they want to be moved, or amused? Shocked, or comforted? Whichever emotion you go for, it will need an element of excitement.

Another important factor is the video length. Too long, and people will lose interest. Too short, and they will be left confused. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and could generate leads in itself. However, a length of about a minute is generally considered a wise move.

As I said earlier, there are other considerations that will need to be considered when using video marketing, such as placement and how to submit it. Obviously, you will carry the ad on your site, and promote it widely on your blog. However, not everyone has got a wide reach to draw in the traffic levels needed. This is where the veritable galaxy of networking sites come into their own.

The most popular sites for video marketing are the big players, such as YouTube, Google Video and, increasingly, Twitter. Free and easy to upload, your video could be generating traffic flow within minutes of posting. Try to ensure people are logging on as soon as it hits the web by announcing its launch in advance. People love to be the first to see things, and share it with their network. And that, is free advertising for you!

There are other sites out there, that offer excellent returns on posting your video to their sites. Many are as well known as those mentioned previously, but some are not. Engaging the services of a professional team can help to find these, and ensure your work is submitted correctly.

What SEO services do I need?

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Proper SEO marketing can be the difference between a profitable website and one that sits dusty and penniless in the vast untouched depths of the web. While that may seem like a dramatic description, the truth is that unless you actively begin to utilize SEO services on your website you are very unlikely to ever crack the top 200 search results on any search engine which means very low traffic.

This is why many people decide to outsource SEO marketing to professionals who are skilled at providing top notch SEO services that will get websites noticed. Of course, if you are new to SEO you may be unsure of which SEO services to request from a company which can also make it hard to choose the right SEO professional for you.

To help make your decision a bit simpler, here are just a few of the most popular SEO services. Once you know what each requires it will be easier to decide which ones are best for your website. Although all are useful, your budget may not be able to handle every one of the SEO services so choose wisely! You can handle some of these on your own, but SEO services are often time consuming and tedious so tread lightly and consider your own present workload.

Almost everyone recognizes SEO content provision from the start, because it is the building block of an excellent website. SEO content is keyword directed and informational without sounding misplaced or forced, which is why if you tire easily you may want to hire someone to complete this SEO service, because you will be punished for duplicate of sloppy content by search engines!

Blog management is a complementary SEO service that closely relates to content provision. Usually blog management includes making your blog web design SEO friendly as well as providing constant content for your blog. While you can probably handle a blog, updating every day as well thinking of fresh content can get tedious which is why this is also one of the most popular SEO services.

Article directory submission is next, and is the process of creating topic related articles to submit to article directories. As you may have noted, writing is pertinent to many of the best SEO services and tactics, so if you have trouble writing you will definitely want to outsource any SEO services you can!

Finally, backlinking is also a very popular SEO service that includes posting your link around the web at topic related sites that have the same basic keyword phrases as your website. This shows search engines that you have authority on the topic and can help boost your ranking twofold if you place enough relevant backlinks around the web or hire a service to do it for you.

Essential Tools for Keyword Analysis Research

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The search engines try to make sure they give the most relevant search results to the end user. When a user types in a certain keyword or keyword phrase, the pages that come up will be ones which have the most relevant content in relation to what the user searched for. Therefore, it is important that you make sure that your site is optimized as best as it can be for the terms your potential website visitor would use when searching. It is essential to undertake proper keyword analysis research.

Some choices are available for keyword analysis research. The first option is to use free tools. The second option is to use paid tools. The other option is to use the best bits of both free and paid tools.

Are Free Tools Any Good?

Most free tools give you very linear results based on the keyword you are researching. Whereas paid tools provide non-linear results. If you are doing research for pay per click, then free tools might not be the best option for you as you will need to know more about the competition.

For example, if you put cat into a free tool, you will get results back that feature variations of the keyword cat. However, another keyword that may be of benefit to you but which wasn’t displayed would be kitten. Some free keyword tools, may give you such a synonym, but then you would have to do a separate search for each one.

Apart from free tools not costing you money, they will cost you much more time in doing keyword analysis research. Output is usually one word deep, so you are likely to bypass key terms for your website.

What about Paid Tools?

Because the paid keyword analysis research software makes money, it allows the developers to add a lot of extra features and functionality into the software that the free software just can’t compete with. Most paid keyword software will give you large lists of keywords and related keywords quickly and efficiently, including the level of competition.

The advantage of the paid keyword tools is that you will get many keywords that you may have never thought of yourself. They will also help you to find low competition keywords and phrases related to your site content. They will also do all the extra digging at a fraction of the time that it would take you to do manually while doing your keyword analysis research by hand. The only real disadvantage of the paid tools is they cost money. However, if you’re serious about getting traffic to your site and getting excellent search engine results, than the cost is puny in comparison to what you get in return.

3 Effective Ways to Start Your List Building

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Let me ask you this, regarding your web browsing habit. What is the average length of time that you stay on any website before you move on to the next? You will be surprised that generally, people spend less than four minutes on any website especially if it’s the first time that they have been there. Perhaps that is why it is called web browsing in the first place. But this is not a good news if your into internet marketing or making money online especially if your goal is to start a list building campaign.

The most important thing to remember is that every visitor to your site, no matter how long or how short his stay can be, is a potential customer or client and therefore it is always a priority to get them interested enough for them to give you their contact details. But everybody knows it is easier said than done when it comes to enticing people to give their email address. For this reason I have listed three effective ways to a good list building strategy.

1. Offer an ebook

People love free stuff and ebooks have long been an attractive product that internet marketers have used for over a decade already. For example, if your website is all about dogs and dog supplies, why not offer a free ebook on how to properly take care of a specific dog breed? Dog lovers will surely love this free offer and they will willingly list themselves on your site just to get that free ebook.

2. Offer a free product

Ebooks have long been a popular free product offered by internet marketers. They are generally easier to create and also very easy to distribute. Create one useful ebook and you can create a buzz word for your business. People who have benefited from any ebook generally spread the word all over the internet. A how-to-guide in the form of an ebook is quite popular with everybody. If you are in the jewelry business, you can probably offer an ebook on how to better appraise a certain type of gem.

3. Offer a discount

You can invest some money into hiring a software developer and create a certain software or tool that can be very useful for other people. One such example will be the various plug-ins that are offered to bloggers. All that a person needs to do is to sign up and leave their emails in exchange for that plug-in which in turn will give a specific benefit to that person. It will cost you a bit of money to create such a tool but the rewards that you can reap from it will be worth every cent.
